Glock zet belangrijke stap richting titel

Timo Glock is niet ver verwijderd van de titel in de GP2. De Duitser scoorde in beide races op het circuit van Monza en zag concurrent Lucas di Grassi slechts drie punten pakken. Het gat tussen de twee groeide van twee naar elf punten, met nog vier races te gaan.

Glock won zelf de tweede race op Monza, na een derde plek in race 1. De races op Monza brachten een paar oude bekenden terug op het podium. Luca Filippi en Bruno Senna hadden al lang geen podiumplek meer gescoord, maar mochten voor het Italiaanse publiek het ereschavot beklimmen. De fans waren een dag eerder al verwend met een zege van thuisrijder Giorgio Pantano.

Ho-Pin Tung (foto) zal geen beste herinneringen aan dit weekend overhouden. De coureur van BCN Competicion had twee keer geen vlekkeloze race. In race 1 was hij op weg naar een negende plek totdat Kazuki Nakajima hem uit de race ramde, in race 2 zakte hij in de slotfase terug tot de zestiende stek door remproblemen.
