Kirchhöfer en Ceccon winnen op Silverstone

Marvin Kirchhöfer en Kevin Ceccon hebben de GP3-races van dit weekend in Groot-Brittannië op hun naam geschreven. Kirchhöfer was de beste in de hoofdrace op zaterdag terwijl Ceccon op zondag in de sprintrace zijn eerste zege in de opstapklasse boekte.

Kirchhöfer stormde naar de winst in de eerste wedstrijd van het weekend. De Duitser vertrok vanaf pole position, maar hij kreeg het niet cadeau. Hij kwam nog flink onder druk te staan van thuisrijder Emil Bernstorff, maar Kirchhöfer bezweek niet onder de druk. Matthew Parry completeerde het podium met zijn eerste top drie-finish.

Een dag later was Ceccon de beste. De Italiaan begon als tweede, maar hij verschalkte Ralph Boschung al bij de start. Esteban Ocon drong nog wel even aan in de openingsronde, maar Ceccon was daartegen bestand en bepaalde vervolgens het tempo.

Luca Ghiotto voert het kampioenschap nog steeds aan, met 82 punten. Kirchhöfer heeft vijf punten minder. Ocon en Bernstorff zijn met respectievelijk 64 en 63 punten ook niet ver weg, de rest staat al op grotere achterstand.
