Ocon scoort eerste pole position op Sochi

Esteban Ocon heeft vanochtend zijn eerste pole position in de GP3 behaald. De Fransman reed een 1:53,921, waarmee hij uiteindelijk 0,04 seconden sneller was dan Matheo Tuscher. Kevin Ceccon wist beslag te leggen op de derde plek.

De leider in het kampioenschap - Luca Ghiotto - kende zijn slechtste kwalificatie van het seizoen. De Italiaan begint vanmiddag pas vanaf de zevende positie. Vooral tijdens zijn laatste ronde was de verbetering van Ghiotto niet zo sterk als die van andere coureurs.

Indrukwekkend in de kwalificatie waren nieuwkomers Michele Beretta en Konstantin Tereshcenko. Beide waren vrijwel de hele sessie in de top van het veld te vinden, maar moesten bij het vallen van de vlag toch genoegen nemen met de twaalfde en vijftiende positie.

Vanmiddag begint om 17:00 uur de eerste race in de GP3.
