Esteban Gutierrez opnieuw de sterkste, Nederlanders crashen

Esteban Gutierrez heeft vanmiddag de hoofdrace van de GP3 Series op zijn nama geschreven. De ART-coureur heeft hiermee zijn leiding in het kampioenschap uitgebreid. Renger van der Zande en Nigel Melker kwamen beiden niet aan de finish.

Net zoals in de GP2-race van eerder vandaag vonden er in de eerste bochten enkele crashes plaats. Hierbij was ook Renger van der Zande betrokken, die meteen kon uitstappen. Nigel Melker was ook slachtoffer nadat Felipe Guimaraes achterop de bolide van de Nederlander reed en de lucht invloog. Ook Melker kon al meteen uitstappen.

Vanaf dat moment was het een saaie race door de straten van Valencia. Gutierrez werd geen enkel moment bedreigd en eindigde bijna 2,5 seconden voor Robert Wickens. Roberto Merhi reed bij zijn debuut in de GP3 naar de derde plaats.
