Renger van der Zande beleefde in Hongarije opnieuw een weekend om snel te vergeten. De Nederlander dacht dat zijn podium in Duitsland de start van een ommekeer in een pechjaar zou betekenen, maar op de Hungaroring bleef hij weer puntloos.

Van der Zande is teneergeslagen. Dit was al weer het zesde weekend van wat zich voltrekt als een rampseizoen. Normaal ga ik redelijk opgewekt door het leven, maar nu moet ik gaan oppassen niet ernstig somber te worden. Ook teambaas Peter Mücke geeft aan nog nooit zon opstapeling van pech meegemaakt te hebben. Het zijn steeds feiten waar we geen invloed ophebben, die ons pad negatief kruisen. Dit weekend kwam het team wat snelheid te kort, maar toch stond ik op het punt de pole voor race twee te pakken, toen een gele vlagsituatie weer roet in het eten gooide. In race 2 werd ik er afgerost door een al te drieste actie van een tegenstander. Ik word langzamerhand grootgebruiker bij het onderdelenmagazijn van Dallara. Met nog Spa en Monza te gaan ligt er een laatste uitdaging.
