Officieël: Nigel Melker ook in 2011 met Mücke in de GP3 Series

Nigel Melker zal ook volgend seizoen racen in de GP3 Series. De Nederlander heeft een nieuwe overeenkomst gesloten met RSC Mücke Motorsport en hoopt hierdoor in 2011 mee te kunnen strijden om de titel.

Melker debuteerde dit seizoen in de GP3 Series en begon het jaar erg sterk met twee achtereenvolgende pole positions. In de races kwam het er echter totaal niet uit, maar toch behoud teambaas Peter Mücke vertrouwen in de 19-jarige Nederlander. "We hadden een typisch debuutseizoen in de GP3 Series met hoogte- en dieptepunten. In Monza kwalificeerden we ons als tweede, vierde en achtste en we moeten verder bouwen op deze solide prestatie", aldus Mücke.

"We beginnen eerst met de testsessies in Estoril en Jerez en daarbij zullen we ook eventuele nieuwe coureurs voor 2011 evalueren. We hebben al enkele talenten in beeld, maar we hebben nog niks besloten voor volgend jaar. We hopen tijdens de tests te kunnen profiteren van de ervaring die Nigel heeft opgedaan dit jaar en we zijn ervan overtuigd dat we dan volgend jaar voor de titel kunnen strijden."
