Titel voor Hubert na derde plaats, Pulcini wint in Abu Dhabi

Anthoine Hubert heeft zich laten kronen tot de laatste kampioen in de GP3 Series. De coureur van ART Grand Prix had genoeg aan een derde plaats in de voorlaatste race van het seizoen. Leonardo Pulcini won de race, David Beckmann pakte de tweede positie.

Pulcini streed tijdens de race met de andere titelkandidaat, Nikita Mazepin, om de leiding en de zege. Het beslissende moment voor de race en het kampioenschap kwam toen Mazepin een bocht afsneed, waarvoor hij een tijdstraf van tien seconden kreeg. Pulcini reed vervolgens nog weg bij de Rus en aan de meet had hij vervolgens een marge van bijna 9 seconden op de nieuwe nummer 2, David Beckmann.

Hubert eindigde daarachter op de derde plaats en dat was voldoende om de titel binnen te halen, zeker na de straf van Mazepin. De Rus eindigde de race daardoor slechts als vijfde, achter Callum Ilott. Richard Verschoor kon op het Yas Marina Circuit weinig potten breken en eindigde de race als veertiende.
