16-jarige Nieuw-Zeelander tekent bij Arden in GP3 Series

Het Arden-team heeft vandaag bevestigd dat de pas 16-jarige Nieuw-Zeelander Mitch Evans in 2011 zijn debuut zal maken in de GP3 Series. Evans eindigde vorig jaar als tweede in de Australische Formule 3 en komt dit jaar voor het eerst in Europa racen.

"Ik ben erg blij dat ik met Arden in de GP3 Series kan racen komend seizoen", vertelde Evans. "De tests in Estoril verliepen goed en ik ben erg blij dat ik bij zo'n professioneel team terecht kan. Ik kijk erg uit naar mijn eerste raceseizoen in Europa. Het zal zeker geen gemakkelijk jaar worden, want ik heb nog nooit op de circuits gereden waar de GP3 Series komt. Het zal ook een hele nieuwe ervaring worden om in Europa te gaan leven."

Arden-teammanager Julian Rouse vertelde: "We zijn blij dat Mitch ons team komt versterken in 2011. Hij reed in oktober drie dagen voor ons tijdens de testsessies in Estoril en iedereen was meteen onder de indruk van hem. Het is echt al heel lang geleden dat ik een coureur van 16 jaar heb ontmoet die al zo compleet was als Mitch."
