Lewis Williamson snelste tijdens eerste testdag Hongarije

Lewis Williamson heeft vandaag tijdens de eerste testdag in Hongarije de snelste tijd gereden. De winnaar van de Autosport BRDC Awards 2010 was in de middagsessie een dikke tiende sneller dan Alexander Sims.

Michael Cristensen zette vroeg in de ochtendsessie een snelle tijd neer die een poos bleef staan. Halverwege die ochtendtraining kwam Mitch Evans met zijn 1:38.508 op nieuwe banden naar de koppositie. Deze gaf de rookie niet meer af en eindigde de ochtendsessie met een voorsprong van ruim drie tienden op Cristensen. De eerste zeventien rijders eindigden binnen een seconde van Evans. Nigel Melker reed in de ochtend naar de veertiende tijd, Thomas Hylkema, die test voor Tech 1, eindigde als dertigste en laatste.

's Middags waren de omstandigheden verbeterd ten opzichte van de ochtendsessie en was het Nigel Melker die even kort aan kop stond. In de laatste minuten stapten de coureurs over naar de zachte Pirelli-band en begon de shoot-out voor de snelste tijd. Het was Lewis Williamson die als eerste naar de koppositie reed, maar werd al snel voorbij gereden door Adrian Quaife-Hobbs. Op het eind was Williamson echter wederom de snelste en ging Alexander Sims nog voorbij aan Quaife-Hobbs. Nigel Melker reed met een achterstand van 0.517 seconden naar de achtste tijd, Thomas Hylkema eindigde als 28e.
