Mitch Evans domineert eerste testdag, Schothorst zestiende

Mitch Evans heeft vandaag tijdens de eerste van twee GP3-testdagen in Barcelona de snelste tijd gereden. De Austalische coureur was voor MW Arden zo'n zes tienden sneller dan Matias Laine. Pieter Schothorst sloot zijn eerste kennismaking met de GP3-bolide af op de zestiende plaats van de in totaal 26 deelnemers.

In de ochtendsessie was het circuit in Barcelona nog wat vochtig. Daar was Evans al de snelste rijder met een 1:39.695. Kevin Korjus gaf toen bijna vier tienden toe, gevolgd door Carlos Huertas, Tio Ellinas en Brandon Maisano. Schothorst kwam in de ochtendsessie tot een dertiende tijd en was daarmee ruim sneller (5,8 seconden) dan zijn Addax-teamgenoot.

's Middags was het circuit opgedroogd en werden de snelle tijden gereden. Evans deed er nog een flink schepje bovenop en ging maar liefst zes tienden sneller dan zijn tijd van de ochtend. Met zijn 1:39.037 was de Australiër 0.590 seconden sneller dan Matias Laine. Huertas volgde als derde, met Ellinas, Daniel Abt en Korjus op de plaatsen vier, vijf en zes. Schothorst moest met de zestiende tijd zo'n 1,6 seconden toegeven op de tijd van Evans, maar was wel weer ruim sneller dan zijn teammaat die de langzaamste rijder was.
