GP3 Series probeert Monaco in te passen op kalender voor 2012

De GP3 Series onderneemt voor volgend jaar een nieuwe poging om een race in Monaco van de grond te krijgen. Dat was voor afgelopen seizoen ook al de bedoeling, maar het prinsdom aan de Middellandse Zee had te weinig ruimte om de tien teams en dertig auto's te herbergen.

Voor 2012 staat Monaco opnieuw voorwaardelijk op het schema. GP3-baas Bruno Michel: GP3 zien racen in de straten van Monte Carlo, dat lijkt me geweldig. We doen alles om dit mogelijk te maken en we zijn in afwachting van bevestiging van de lokale autosportbond.

Verder zal de GP3 in 2012 weer in het voorprogramma van de Formule 1 en GP2 staan bij zeven Europese Grands Prix. Dat doet ons deugd. Het is belangrijk voor jonge coureurs om ervaring op te doen op de Formule 1-circuits en in een competitieve serie. Elf rijders zijn reeds gepromoveerd naar de GP2, wat onze rol als opstapje bevestigd. De jonge GP3 Series wordt elk jaar sterker en we verwachten in 2012 weer een succesvol en opwindend seizoen.

24-27 mei Monaco (voorwaardelijk)
22-24 juni Valencia, Europa
6-8 juli Silverstone, Groot-Brittannië
20-22 juli Hockenheim, Duitsland
27-29 juli Hungaroring, Hongarije
31 augustus-2 september Spa-Francorchamps, België
7-9 september Monza, Italië

Jammer dat er niet zoveel races zijn, zou leuk zijn dat ze ook nog op andere circuits kwamen... 7 rondes (plus 1 voorwaardelijk) is echt weinig voor zo\'n klasse, er zijn nog zoveel andere Europese circuits!
