Lotus GP legt Daniel Abt vast voor de GP3 Series

Daniel Abt debuteert komend seizoen in de GP3 Series namens regerend kampioen Lotus GP, voorheen Lotus ART. De 19-jarige Duitser testte al voor de renstal aan het eind van vorig jaar. Abt stond in 2011 drie keer op het podium in de Formule 3 Euroseries en eindigde als zevende.

Ik ben zeer blij met de kans om mijn carrière voort te zetten in de GP3 Series, begint Abt. Dit had ook mijn voorkeur. Dat ik deze stap maak bij Lotus GP voelt als een kleine droom die uitkomt, want iedereen weet hoe professioneel en succesvol dit team is. Ik voelde me tijdens de eerste tests al meteen thuis bij deze renstal.

Ik kijk uit naar de uitdaging van een nieuwe auto, een nieuw team en enkele onbekende circuits. De tests verliepen goed, maar belangrijker dan de tijden was dat ik plezier had in de auto en met het team. Ik ga nu hard trainen om me optimaal voor te bereiden, zodat ik dit jaar iets terug kan geven voor het vertrouwen in mij.
