Evans breidt voorsprong op Vainio iets uit in Duitsland

Mitch Evans heeft op de Hockenheimring goede zaken gedaan in de strijd om de GP3-titel. De Nieuw-Zeelander van MW Arden won de race op zondag en vergaarde 21 punten in Duitsland. Concurrent Aaro Vainio schreef 14 punten bij aan zijn totaal.

De tweede wedstrijd van het weekend in Duitsland werd ontsierd door enkele zware crashes. Al in de eerste ronde lanceerde Vicky Piria zich bij het aanremmen voor de Spitzkehre over twee auto's. Bij de herstart ging Fabiano Machado te wijd in bocht 1 en vloog over een hobbel in het gras. De landing bezorgde hem zoveel pijn dat de Marussia Manor-coureur niet op eigen kracht uit de auto kon klimmen.

De eerste race van het weekend verliep een stuk rustiger. Patric Niederhauser boekte zijn tweede zege van het seizoen, met Conor Daly in zijn kielzog. Dat tweetal vecht samen met Daniel Abt om de derde plek in het kampioenschap, op ruim veertig punten van leider Evans.
