Kampioen Evans ontvangt fonds van 200.000 euro van Pirelli

Mitch Evans, de kersverse kampioen in de GP3 Series, heeft zijn zinnen voor 2013 gezet op de GP2. De Nieuw-Zeelander krijgt daarbij hulp van bandenleverancier Pirelli. De Italiaanse bandenfabrikant stelt 200.000 euro beschikbaar voor de overstap naar de opstapklasse voor de Formule 1.

Evans: "Het is een mooie beloning voor mijn titel en ik ben Pirelli zeer dankbaar. Het maakt de overgang naar de GP2 nog aantrekkelijker en dat is zeker de ultieme volgende stap voor mij. Dit jaar was een emotionele achtbaan en mijn telefoon rinkelt sinds de race van zondag op Monza onophoudelijk. We gaan deze winter hard werken om een budget voor een seizoen GP2 te verzamelen. Eerst wil ik alles goed tot me door laten dringen en even tot rust komen voordat het testen weer begint."
