Alexander Rossi blijft bij Andretti Autosport

Alexander Rossi heeft een nieuw meerjarig contract bij Andretti Autosport getekend. Het team kondigde eerder deze week aan dat het ook de komende jaren gebruik zal maken van Honda-motoren. Het volgende puzzelstukje dat op zijn plaats valt is dat van Rossi. De Indy 500-winnaar van 2016 rijdt ook in 2018 en 2019 voor Andretti Autosport.

Rossi: "Zoals altijd is silly season een uitdaging voor alle betrokkenen, maar ik ben zeer dankbaar voor de steun en het vertrouwen van Andretti Autosport, mijn sponsor Napa Auto Parts en Honda om mijn contract tot eind 2019 te verlengen. De verbeteringen die we dit jaar hebben gemaakt en de relaties die ik opgebouwd heb leggen de fundering voor een opwindende toekomst."

"Daar komt nog eens bij dat ik zeer enthousiast ben over de toekomst van de IndyCar en de richting die deze serie op gaat. Met de nieuwe auto voor volgend jaar belooft het racen nog competitiever en spannender te worden dan het al is. Ik ben trots dat ik daar onderdeel vanuit mag maken. Het is een eer om te racen met getalenteerde tegenstanders en ik voel me gezegend."
