McLaren zal pas begin april voor het eerst testen

McLaren verwacht dat het zijn eerste test als IndyCar-team pas een maand voordat de Indianapolis 500 verreden wordt, kan laten plaatsvinden. In november maakte het Britse team bekend dat het met een eigen team zou deelnemen aan de Indy 500. Fernando Alonso probeert hiermee de fameuze Triple Crown binnen te halen.

"De auto's zullen hier in januari zijn en dan gaan we aan het proces beginnen. Er zijn restricties op het gebied van testen, dus we zijn niet helemaal vrij om te doen wat we willen", zegt Brown tegenover Racer.

"Ik denk dat we begin april voor het eerst op het circuit te zien zullen zijn en dan zullen onze tests aanvangen. Dan doen we natuurlijk het maximaal toegestane binnen de huidige regelgeving voor wat betreft de hoeveelheid tests op Indianapolis en daarbuiten."

"Met de mensen die erbij betrokken zijn, ze we half op weg. Dus we liggen op schema en zijn enthousiast. Er komen nog bekendmakingen op het gebied van personeel en zijn ook nog in gesprek met sponsors. We verwachten dat we een geweldig uitziende IndyCar gaan hebben tijdens de Indianapolis 500", aldus Brown.

    Allemaal leuk en aardig zo'n Indycar team, maar moet de focus niet eerst 100% op de F1 liggen de komend jaren Zak? Of is dat dankzij jou, en de enorme drang om Alonso te pleasen slechts bijzaak geworden?

      Zeg je dat ook tegen Ferrari? Trofeo's, Le Mans enzo. Maar sinds 2008 geen kampioenschap meer binnen gehaald.

      Mercedes met het dtm (in het verleden) en formule e en de gts... Ferrari met lemans en de gts. Redbull met motorcross, etc, etc, etc...

      Het is gewoon een afzonderlijk team. Bovendien krijgt het F1-team nog een nieuwe teamleider, vermoedelijk Seidl van Porsche.

      Brown regelt de sponsors verder is het een geheel US gerund team ondersteund door Andretti. Het is voor een Indy team echt wel interessant gezien interesse in Alonso vorige keer en ook gezien zijn prestaties.
      Wordt een beetje een cliché dingetje,dat #BrownpleasesAlonso riedeltje steeds noemen, saaiiiii grapje.
