Hunter-Reay en Newgarden toegevoegd aan startlijst voor Race Of Champions

De startgrid voor de Race Of Champions begint steeds meer vorm te krijgen. De organisatie maakte vrijdag bekend dat ook IndyCar-kampioenen Ryan Hunter-Reay en Josef Newgarden aan de deelnemerslijst zijn toegevoegd.

Hunter-Reay en Newgarden zullen de vertegenwoordigers zijn van Team Verenigde Staten tijdens de Race Of Champions. Die wordt dit jaar op 19 en 20 januari verreden in het Foro Sol in Mexico-Stad. Op de eerste dag nemen de twee laatste Amerikaanse IndyCar-kampioenen het samen op tegen andere landen in de landenwedstrijd, op de tweede dag strijden ze in de individuele wedstrijd ook tegen elkaar.

Voor Hunter-Reay wordt het zijn zesde deelname aan de Race Of Champions, voor Newgarden de tweede. In Mexico-Stad zullen ze het op moeten nemen tegen een aantal sterke tegenstanders. Drievoudig Indy 500-winnaar Helio Castroneves zal Brazilië vertegenwoordigen, terwijl Indy Lights-kampioen Patricio O'Ward dat doet voor Mexico. Duitsland staat ook met twee sterren aan de start: Sebastian Vettel en Formule 3-kampioen Mick Schumacher. Ook Tom Kristensen, recordwinnaar van de 24 uur van Le Mans, zal weer present zijn.
