Van Kalmthout met Bitcoin-livery op jacht naar Indy 500-succes

Rinus van Kalmthout, in de Verenigde Staten beter bekend als Rinus VeeKay, gaat eind deze maand op jacht naar Indy 500-succes. De Nederlandse coureur van Ed Carpenter Racing is een van de 35 inschrijvingen voor het beroemde evenement op de Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Aangezien er 33 auto's aan de start mogen verschijnen, vallen er in de kwalificatie nog twee rijders af.

Het ligt niet in de lijn der verwachting dat Van Kalmthout in de gevarenzone terechtkomt en op Bump Day moet knokken voor een startplaats. Als een van de reguliere IndyCar-coureurs heeft hij meer ritme dan de rijders die eenmalig aan de start staan. Bovendien beschikt hij met Ed Carpenter over een teambaas die altijd snel is op ovals en hem van de bruikbare tips kan voorzien.

Van Kalmthout rijdt de Indy 500 met een andere livery dan gebruikelijk, gesponsord door Bitcoin. Zo zal de bolide van de Nederlander eruit zien:
