Voormalig kampioen Rigon keert terug bij Anderlecht

Voormalig Superleague Formula-kampioen Davide Rigon zal komend seizoen terugkeren naar de raceklasse voor voetbalclubs. In het eerste seizoen werd Rigon met Beijing Guoan kampioen, maar hij kon voor 2009 geen stoeltje krijgen. Komend seizoen rijdt Rigon voor het Belgische RSC Anderlecht.

Rigon was met Beijing oppermachtig in 2008, het eerste seizoen van de Superleague Formula. De Italiaan werd ruim kampioen, maar omdat Beijing met de race-activiteiten stopte bleef Rigon zonder zitje achter. De Italiaan reed nog wel enkele races voor Olympiakos, maar zal in 2010 weer een volledig seizoen rijden.

RSC Anderlecht, waar vorig jaar Yelmer Buurman reed, legde Rigon vast en daarmee is Azerti-baas Wim Coekelbergs erg tevreden. "Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat we met Rigon RSC Anderlecht nog meer in de spotlights kunnen zetten. Ik denk niet dat het lang gaat duren voordat Davide zijn eerste beker voor ons binnenhaalt."

"Ik ben erg blij dat ik Anderlecht dit seizoen mag vertegenwoordigen", vertelde Rigon. "Natuurlijk is mijn doel weer het winnen van de titel, al weet ik dat het geen gemakkelijke taak zal worden. Ik kijk er erg naar uit om voor Anderlecht op het podium te staan en races te winnen."

Het nieuwe seizoen van de Superleague Formula begint volgend weekend in Silverstone.
