Davide Rigon zet RSC Anderlecht op pole position in Assen

Davide Rigon heeft zojuist de pole position voor de eerste race van het Superleague Formula-weekend in Assen gepakt. De Italiaan was voor RSC Anderlecht sneller dan Franck Montagny van Girondins de Bordeaux.

In Groep A waren er al enkele verrassingen. Zo viel onder andere Sebastién Bourdais af, net als Craig Dolby van Tottenham Hotspur. In Groep B wisten Chris van der Drift (Olympiacos) en Yelmer Buurman (AC Milan) door te stoten naar de kwartfinales, terwijl Robert Doornbos (Corinthians) en PSV afvielen.

Buurman en Van der Drift kwamen echter ook niet verder dan de kwartfinales en waren langzamer dan respectievelijk Montagny en Perera. In de halve finale versloeg Montagny Julien Jousse van AS Roma en was Rigon te sterk voor Flamengo's Perera. In de finale was Rigon uiteindelijk zes tienden te snel voor Montagny en zo heeft Rigon voor het eerst sinds 2008 weer een pole position in handen.

Op de tweede startrij staan Perera (Flamengo) en Jousse (AS Roma). Buurman start de eerste race in Assen als vijfde voor AC Milan, gevolgd door Chris van der Drift, Alvaro Parente (FC Porto) en Tristan Gommendy (Olympiacos) Doornbos start de race slechts vanaf de vijftiende plaats.
