Chris van der Drift profiteert van fouten en wint Super Final

Chris van der Drift heeft wederom een sterk weekend achter de rug. Op het circuit van Jarama wist de Nederlandse Nieuw-Zeelander, na zijn derde plaats in de eerste race, de Super Final te winnen. Daarbij eindigde Yelmer Buurman van AC Milan nog als derde.

Van der Drift hoefde niet hard te werken voor de overwinning en de daarbij horende 100.000 euro. De coureur van Olympiacos startte de zes ronden tellende race als vierde, maar lag na de eerste bocht al aan de leiding. Polesitter Craig Dolby (Tottenham) remde te laat voor de eerste bocht, waardoor ook Max Wissel en Julien Jousse door het grind moesten gaan.

Hierdoor had Van der Drift na de eerste ronde al een voorsprong van twee seconden op John Martin van Beijing Guoan. Van der Drift gaf deze zege ook niet meer weg en eindigde voor Martin, terwijl Yelmer Buurman voor AC Milan derde werd.
