Chris van der Drift met Olympiacos op pole in Zolder

Chris van der Drift zal de eerste Superleague Formula-race in Zolder morgen vanaf de pole position vertrekken. De Nederlandse Nieuw-Zeelander was in de finale maar liefst vier tienden sneller dan Davide Rigon van RSC Anderlecht.

Van der Drift reed in de finale een 1:18.721 en was daarmee ruim vier tienden sneller dan voormalig kampioen Davide Rigon van Anderlecht. Rigon kwam als eerste door de halve finale, door Robert Doornbos van Corinthians te verslaan. Van der Drift was in zijn halve finale twee tienden te snel voor FC Basel's Max Wissel.

Wissel was echter net iets sneller in zijn halve finale dan Doornbos, dus start de Duitser voor de Nederlander als derde. Daarachter pakte James Walker de vijfde positie, gevolgd door kampioenschapsleider Craig Dolby van Tottenham Hotspur en Yelmer Buurman. Marcos Martinez kwalificeerde zich als achtste. Debutant Jaap van Lagen reed in zijn eerste kwalificatie naar de twaalfde plaats toe, terwijl Andy Soucek zijn eerste sessie op de elfde stek beëindigde.
