Buurman verliest leiding in kampioenschap: "We houden het graag spannend"

Yelmer Buurman heeft afgelopen weekend de leiding in het kampioenschap af moeten staan aan Craig Dolby van Tottenham Hotspur. De Nederlander, die voor AC Milan uitkomt, staat momenteen slechts drie punten achter op Dolby, terwijl Davide Rigon van RSC Anderlecht maar negen punten achter Buurman staat.

Buurman en Dolby kwamen in de eerste race met elkaar in aanraking en vielen daardoor ver terug, terwijl rivaal Rigon de race op zijn naam schreef. "We vinden het leuk om het kampioenschap spannend te houden", vertelde Buurman na afloop van de tweede race. "We kenden voor de vierde maal op rij problemen bij onze pitstop, dus daar moeten we echt aan gaan werken."

Ondanks een redelijke finish wist Buurman het niet tot de Super Final te maken. Davide Rigon scoorde daarin nog eens zes extra punten, terwijl concurrent Dolby ook niet deel mocht nemen. "In de tweede race hadden we veel onderstuur op de nieuwe banden. Vreemd, want we waren daarvoor wel snel. Jammer dat we het niet tot de Super Final haalden, maar gelukkig Craig ook niet."
