Doornbos: "Niet iedereen begrijpt concept van rollende start"

De eerste race van het Superleague Formula-weekend in Ordos was voor Robert Doornbos al over bij de start. De Corinthians-coureur kwam nog voor de startlijn hard in aanraking met de auto van Beijing Guoan, bestuurd door John Martin. Die zat te slapen bij de rollende start.

Doornbos: Ik kreeg, denk ik, een tik van Flamengo op mijn linkerachterkant en het kwam dan tot een ongeluk tussen mij en Beijing. Het is jammer om vast te stellen dat sommigen nog steeds het systeem van de rollende start niet lijken te snappen. De bedoeling is om met twee naast elkaar te starten en niet iedereen apart.

Het lukte zijn team Azerti Racing nog om de auto te prepareren voor de tweede race, maar daarin kreeg Doornbos al snel te maken met nieuwe tegenslag. Een lekke band in ronde vijf was de opmaat naar een uitvalbeurt halverwege de wedstrijd. Komend weekend kan hij zich revancheren in Peking.
