Webb: "Superleague Formula beste alternatief voor Formule 1"

De Superleague Formula heeft zich gepositioneerd als beste alternatief voor de Formule 1. Dat vindt Robin Webb, baas van de serie die voetbal met autosport combineert. De klasse heeft ook geprofiteerd van het gat dat de A1 Grand Prix achter liet. Daardoor kozen coureurs die probeerden in de Formule 1 te komen en rijders die een alternatieve eenzitter-loopbaan zochten voor de Superleague Formula.

Dat is de lezing van Webb op weg naar het vierde Superleague Formula-seizoen, dat in het weekend van 16 en 17 april van start gaat. Toen de geruchten over het einde van de A1 Grand Prix hun hoogtepunt bereikten zei ik dat het ook slecht zou zijn voor ons. Iedereen nam aan dat de Superleague hetzelfde lot beschoren zou zijn, maar achteraf bezien pakte het juist goed voor ons uit. Het haalde de verwarring en een concurrent in een markt waarin we ons allebei wilden positioneren weg. We hebben geprofiteerd. De Superleague Formula is de enige globale eenzitter-klasse als alternatief voor de Formule 1.

Daar zullen sommigen misschien wel om lachen, maar ik heb geen rij van teams, rijders of clubs bespeurd die ons wilden verlaten. Voormalig Formule 1-coureurs en toekomstig Formule 1-rijders zijn blij om in onze auto's te racen. Binnen vijf jaar is de Superleague Formule een gevestigde serie. Dat is belangrijk. Een erfenis kan je niet kopen, het is niet tastbaar en geeft je wel geloofwaardigheid en waarde. Als we slim te werk gaan en geen fouten maken vestigt de Superleague Formula binnen vijf jaar de eigen identiteit en is de serie commercieel levensvatbaar en succesvol.

Tsja dat kan je wel roepen maar tot nog toe trekt het superleague formula mij niet echt. Ik vind de GP2 interessanter.

nu de wagens nog updaten Want deze zijn volgens mij ook al 5 jaar oud Ga al 5 jaar kijken en blijft leuk voor weinig geld.

De auto\'s hebben nu 3 seizoenen achter de kiezen (of 24 raceweekends of equivalent van 2 seizoenen). Naar alle waarschijnlijkheid gaan deze wagens nog 2 seizoen onder de huidige vorm door. Kwestie van niet de (domme) fout te maken die A1 maakte met de \"Ferrari\" A1 ...
Daarna zou er een totaal nieuwe wagen komen dewelke spectaculairder zou moeten zijn dan een F1 auto, gezien SF zijn eigen vrijheden heeft en niet beperkt zit door F1 technische regelgeving.
Saaie races ? Dat snap ik echt niet wanneer dit wordt gezegd. Het kwalificatiesysteem is spectaculair, de pitstops (banden) zijn mooi om te zien én er is een FULL REVERSED GRID ...
In ieder geval zijn er topteams en rijders aanwezig, spektakel genoeg én voor zeer weinig geld (inkom). Het geluid van de V12 is trouwens ongelooflijk, nog een klein beetje meer vermogen en SF mag effectief spreken van een alternatief.

Kijk verder dan het concept voetbalclubs <=> autosport en je ziet dat het een geweldige namiddag racen brengt. Aantal races vorig jaar overlapten met F1 races en die waren keer op keer spectaculairder! En de rijders zijn dan wel niet de grote F1 sterren, ze laten wel een menselijk gelaat zien...check Dolby!

Ik vind persoonlijk de SLF interessant en spectaculair genoeg gezien het geld dat het slechts kost (als toeschouwer). Heb tot twee maal toe in de bocht gestaan waar Robby D helaas met meerdere \"salto\'s\" uit moest vallen ... dus mij hoor je niet klagen. Bovendien krijg je toegang tot het paddock waar je een kijkje in de keuken kunt nemen.

Enige minpuntje:
mensen in voetbalshirts op het circuit is en blijft een vreemde gewaarwording.
