FIA tikt Superleague Formula op de vingers vanwege 'World'

De Superleague Formula heeft alle verwijzingen naar een wereldkampioenschap en het woord 'World' moeten schrappen uit de communicatie over de raceklasse. De internationale autosportbond FIA had daar een dringend verzoek voor gedaan omdat het in strijd is met artikel 24 van de FIA Internationale Sportieve Code.

De Superleague Formula gaat nu op zoek naar een andere passende titel. Woordvoerder Robin Webb: We verontschuldigen ons voor de verwarring over de naam en alle wijzigingen, maar het is belangrijk dat we de juiste procedures van de FIA volgen. We zijn een serie die goedgekeurd is door de FIA en dat is van belang op gebied van veiligheid en op gebied van sportieve rechtvaardigheid en reglementaire processen tijdens onze evenementen. We zullen nu via de juiste kanalen een aanvraag bij de FIA indienen voor een titel die de huidige status en de internationale aspiraties van de Superleague Formula reflecteert.
