Organisatie last raceweekend op Smolensk Ring af

De organisatie van de Superleague Formula heeft het raceweekend op de Smolensk Ring af moeten gelasten. Het nieuwe circuit zal niet op tijd klaar zijn voor de geplande races in september, zo oordeelde het circuitbestuur zelf. De Superleague zou de eerste internationale raceklasse zijn die Rusland aandoet in een kampioenschap.

"Het is erg teleurstellend voor onze kalender dat we in 2011 geen bezoek kunnen brengen aan de Smolensk Ring", vertelde Superleague-baas Robin Webb. "We hebben het circuit enkele keren bezocht met een paar mensen en er werd goede vooruitgang geboekt. We zijn gebonden aan beslissingen die de circuitorganisatie maakt en die moeten die respecteren."

"We hebben al andere opties aangeboden gekregen voor circuits in Rusland en die zijn we nu aan het onderzoeken. Hopelijk kunnen we de Smolensk Ring weer in 2012 op onze kalender plaatsen."
