Ook Endurance-kampioenen gekroond bij FIA Gala

Het was vrijdagavond in Parijs niet alleen feest voor de Formule 1-coureurs die in de prijzen vielen, ook de kampioenen uit het FIA World Endurance Championship werden gekroond in het Paleis van Versailles.

Brendon Hartley, Earl Bamber en Timo Bernhard werden kampioen in bij de prototypes in hun Porsche 919 Hybrid en mochten nabij de Franse hoofdstad hun prijs ophalen. In negen races stond het trio acht keer op het podium en zegevierden ze viermaal. Porsche werd kampioen bij de constructeurs in hun laatste seizoen en ter ere van de successen werd er een van de WEC-bolides van het merk tentoongesteld.

Voor het eerst werden er ook prijzen uitgereikt aan de beste coureurs in het GT-kampioenschap. James Calado en Alessandro Pier Guidi wonnen namens AF Corse Ferrari drie races en stonden in vier andere races op het podium, waardoor ze de titel binnen wisten te slepen. Ferrari viel in de prijzen als beste GT-constructeur.
