Viscaal snelste 'zilveren' coureur en beste debutant op Le Mans

Bent Viscaal genoot van begin tot eind van zijn debuut in de 24 uur van Le Mans, de meest iconische langeafstandsrace van dit universum. De 21-jarige kwam uit voor ARC Bratislava en werd samen met teamgenoten Tristan Vautier en Miro Konopka 21ste in de LMP2-categorie en zesde in de LMP2 Pro/Am-klasss, waarbij de teams die hieraan meedoen uit amateur en professionele rijders bestaan.

Ondanks dat de teamprestaties niet opvallend waren, heeft Viscaal zich als individu puik werk afgeleverd. Trots en tevreden blikte de voormalig F2-coureur terug. "Dit is een race waaraan ik al mijn hele leven wil deelnemen en dus is een jongensdroom uitgekomen. Van tevoren wist ik dat we gewoon stapje voor stapje doelen moesten nastreven: gelijk van de toren blazen dat je wilt winnen, is hier niet heel verstandig. We wilden finishen en dat is goed gelukt. Bovendien zat de snelheid er goed in.'' Dat de snelheid er goed in zat, stond buiten kijf. Viscaal was de beste debutant in de 24-uursrace en de snelste zilveren coureur. Nyck de Vries was de snelste in de LMP2 van allemaal met een gemiddelde rondetijd van 3:34:093. Viscaal zat op een 3:35:229.

Platina, goud, zilver, brons

De FIA heeft verschillende rijdersklasses met brons (amateur / gentlemen drivers ), zilver, goud en platina (professioneel). Er wordt rekening gehouden met leeftijd, ervaring en prestaties op de baan om rijders in te delen. Deze classificaties worden in verschillende series, waaronder het IMSA WeatherTech SportCar Championship, om teams in de Pro/Am-klasse op te zetten.

Volgens mij werden Viscaal en de Vries 4e met hun team, niet 21? En da's best knap daar ze achteraan moesten starten...

  De Vries was sowieso geen teamgenoot van Bent Viscaal, Nyck de Vries reed met Mathias Beche en Thijmen van der Helm en Bent Viscaal met Tristan Vautier en Miroslav Konopka

  top weer voor het openstaan en het wijzigen van het artikel
  
  overigens knap van de Vries; laatste moment instappen, van de laatste plek naar de 4e (samen met zijn teamgenoten natuurlijk) en dan ook nog de snelste raceronde in de LMP2 klokken. toch niet zo'n koekenbakker, lijkt me...

Hoe dan ook, super dat jullie hier evengoed aandacht aan het WEC geven. Ik ben er gek van en heb. Weer genoten van Le Mans, zelf aanwezig geweest op Spa vorige maand. Kijk nu al uit naar Monza waar Peugeot weer mee gaat doen. En volgend seizoen wordt helemaal feest.
