Viscaal maakt indruk: "Dat geeft mij een bijzonder goed gevoel"

Gisteren werd in het Portugese Portimão de tweede ronde van het World Endurance Championship verreden. De Nederlandse inbreng was groot en de Nederlanders waren zeker niet onsuccesvol. Ook Prema-coureur Bent Viscaal liet zijn klasse weer zien en noteerde zeer snelle rondetijden op de Portugese omloop.

In de LMP2-klasse kwamen de Nederlanders goed voor de dag in Portimão. Giedo van der Garde won samen met zijn United Autosport-teamgenoten Oliver Jarvis en Joshua Pierson de klasse. In de GTE Am-klasse ging de zege naar de Corvette met Nicky Catsburg achter het stuur. Ook Bent Viscaal kwam weer goed voor de dag in de LMP2-klasse.

Tevredenheid

Viscaal startte de race op de achtste plaats en werd uiteindelijk zesde. Samen met zijn teamgenoten Juan Manuel Correa en Filip Ugran reed hij een aardige wedstrijd. Viscaal reed het snelste stint gemiddelde van alle Prema-coureurs en sprak zich uit in een persbericht: "Ik ben tevreden met mijn eigen prestatie. Ik had uiteraard liever gewonnen, maar endurance racen is onvoorspelbaar en knetterhard. Doordat we op een bepaald moment werden geblokt in de kwalificatie, hebben we de aansluiting vooraan in de beginfase van de race verloren. Het enige wat ik kon doen was gasgeven en de boel heel houden. Dat is gelukt."

Gemiddelde

Het feit dat Viscaal het snelste stint gemiddelde noteerde van alle Prema-coureurs, zorgde voor veel tevredenheid bij de Nederlander. Hij is er zeer blij mee: "Ondanks dat we dit als team doen, zijn mijn eigen prestaties goed te duiden door de gemiddelde rondetijden te bekijken. Ik heb de snelste tijd van heel Prema gereden en dat geeft mij een bijzonder goed gevoel. Al helemaal omdat drie van mijn collega's voor ons zijn gefinisht."
