Viscaal sluit seizoen af met vierde plaats: "Ik heb alles gegeven"

Afgelopen weekend werd er niet alleen geracet in de Formule 1, maar ook in het World Endurance Championship. In Bahrein werd de seizoensfinale afgewerkt en Bent Viscaal reed een zeer goede race in de LMP2-klasse. De vierde plaats was een mooie opsteker, maar Viscaal had op meer gehoopt.

Viscaal maakte een prima indruk tijdens de acht uur van Bahrein op het circuit van Sakhir. Viscaal deelde zijn Prema-wagen met Juan Manuel Correa en Filip Ugran. Het trio reed een geweldige race en Viscaal pakte zelfs de koppositie in de LMP2-klasse. De Tukker had echter pech, want hij werd in de eerste bocht aangetikt door een onoplettende GT-coureur van het team van Heart of Racing. Viscaal bleef echter door gassen en de vierde plaats in de klasse was het eindresultaat.

Viscaal was na afloop van de lange en zware race teleurgesteld. Hij stelt dat er veel meer in zat dan een vierde plaats en hij spreekt zich uit in een persbericht: "Ik heb alles gegeven. Een vierde plaats is wat er voor ons in het vat zat en daar moeten we het mee doen. Natuurlijk had ik dit uitdagende seizoen graag afgesloten met een podiumplaats, maar vanwege de omstandigheden moeten we genoegen nemen met de vierde plek. Ik dan daarmee leven."
