Bianchi combineert testrol met racecontract in World Series

Jules Bianchi zal zijn testrol bij Force India gaan combineren met een racestoeltje elders. De 22-jarige Fransman maakte vandaag bekend dat hij komend seizoen zal gaan racen voor Tech 1 in de World Series by Renault. Eerder reden onder andere Jean-Eric Vergne, Jerome D'Ambrosio en Daniel Ricciardo voor dit team.

Bianchi maakt hiermee de overstap vanuit de GP2 Series, waarin hij de laatste twee jaar actief was. De Fransman eindigde tweemaal als derde, maar vanwege zijn schema bij Force India was deze klasse geen optie meer voor 2012. "Ik vond het van groot belang om in een competitieve klasse te blijven racen, zeker nu dit een belangrijk seizoen voor me gaat worden. Ik ga natuurlijk mijn uiterste best doen en wil Tech 1, Ferrari en Force India bedanken dat ze dit mogelijk hebben gemaakt", aldus Bianchi, ook nog altijd een coureur van de Ferrari Academy.
