Carroll rijdt in Brno voor Team Ierland

Adam Carroll neemt komend weekend bij de A1 Grand Prix-race in Brno zoals verwacht het stuur van Ralph Firman bij Team Ierland over. Carroll reed dit seizoen in de GP2 voor het team van Giancarlo Fisichella en won meerdere races, waaronder zijn thuisrace op Silverstone. Op datzelfde circuit testte hij voor het A1 Grand Prix-seizoen al voor Team Ierland, maar op Zandvoort kon hij er niet bij zijn omdat de GP2 nog twee races had in Valencia.

Maar in Tsjechië maakt Carroll zijn debuut. Mijn doel is om races te winnen en kampioenschappen te pakken. In de A1 Grand Prix heb ik daarbij extra motivatie omdat ik mijn land moet verdedigen. Ik ben onder de indruk van het team en tijdens de tests waren we al zeer snel. Dat geeft mij het vertrouwen dat we voorin mee kunnen doen.

Teambaas Mark Kershaw: Ik wil Ralph nog even bedanken voor het geweldige werk dat hij leverde in Zandvoort. Hij is een zeer loyaal mens en aan het einde van het seizoen zal blijken dat zijn gescoorde punten van belang zijn. Maar nu gaan we met Adam voor de titel. Hij is een geweldige aanwinst voor ons en ik weet zeker dat we de stap naar de top met hem kunnen maken.
