Jourdain stapt in bij Team Mexico

Michael Jourdain Junior rijdt komend weekend bij de A1 Grand Prix-races op het circuit van Brno voor het team van Mexico. Hij neemt de plaats in van Salvador Duran die bij de seizoensopening in Zandvoort twee keer vierde werd. Voormalig Champ Car-coureur Jourdain komt tegenwoordig uit in het World Touring Car Championship en hij zal dus snel de omschakeling naar Formule-autos moeten maken.

Jourdain: Allereerst wil ik de teamleiding bedanken voor de uitnodiging om de kleuren van Mexico te verdedigen. Dat voelt als een eer en van wat ik gezien heb van A1 Grand Prix is dit een serie die erg in opkomst is. En de mensen die mij kennen weten dat ik ervan hou om te racen, maakt niet in wat voor auto.

De Mexicaan heeft geen knikkende knieën voor zijn debuut. Het is inderdaad lang geleden dat ik zon auto heb gereden, maar ik pas me meestal vrij snel aan. Ik wil ook de mensen van SEAT bedanken voor het toestaan van dit uitstapje naar de A1 Grand Prix. Gelukkig ken ik het circuit al, ik heb er ongeveer vier maanden geleden al op gereden. Brno is een zeer snel en een vrij wijd circuit. Ik begrijp eigenlijk niet waarom de Formule 1 er niet naartoe gaat. De faciliteiten zijn goed en met zon A1 Grand Prix-auto gaat het zeker een leuk weekend worden.
