Nieuw-Zeeland wint sprintrace in Brno

Nieuw-Zeeland heeft de sprintrace van de Grand Prix van Tsjechië gewonnen. Jonny Reid was in de twintig minuten durende race oppermachtig. Nieuw-Zeeland is met de overwinning al de derde winnaar in even zoveel races dit A1 Grand Prix-seizoen.

Jonny Reid nam bij de start de leiding over Adrian Zaugg van Zuid Afrika die van pole position gestart was. Zaugg had een slechte start en kon zijn pole position niet verzilveren. Behalve Jonny Reid gingen ook Robbie Kerr van Groot-Brittannië en Adam Carroll van Ierland de Zuid-Afrikaan voorbij. Achter Reid, Kerr, Carroll en Zaugg nam ook Jeroen Bleekemolen deel in de kopgroep.

Vanaf dat moment was de sprint race een kleine optocht, met nog wel mooie gevechten tussen onder andere team Nederland en team Frankrijk. Daarachter waren ook Duitsland en Zwitserland met elkaar in gevecht, maar verschuivingen waren er niet meer.

Reid won voor Nieuw-Zeeland gemakkelijk de race. Tweede werd Groot-Brittannië, gevolgd door Ierland, Zuid Afrika, Nederland en Frankrijk. Duitsland, Zwitserland, Portugal en China pakte de laatste punten.
