Emerson Fittipaldi gaat nieuwe auto uitproberen

Emerson Fittipaldi kruipt weer achter het stuur. De Braziliaanse wereldkampioen Formule 1 van 1972 en 1974 gaat voorafgaand aan het volgende A1 Grand Prix-seizoen met een voorlopige nieuwe auto, gebaseerd op de Ferrari F2007, testen. De 60-jarige Fittipaldi reed in zijn actieve carrière nooit voor Ferrari en wil deze kans niet laten schieten.

Toen ik hoorde van de mogelijkheid dat Ferrari zou instappen bij deze klasse vond ik het al een briljant idee, begint de Braziliaan. De naam Ferrari is zo groot, dat gaat deze serie absoluut naar een hoger niveau tillen. De mensen van Ferrari kwamen in Zandvoort langs en ze waren meteen weg van de A1 Grand Prix.

Ferrari zal meehelpen met het ontwerp van de nieuwe bolide. Het is altijd een wens van me geweest om voor Ferrari te rijden en nu krijg ik daar de mogelijkheid toe. Ik ga een test uitvoeren met de nieuwe auto. Ik zal niet gaan racen, maar ik mag hem wel uitproberen. En ik kijk er nu al naar uit. De samenwerking met Ferrari zal er voor zorgen dat meer coureurs in de A1 Grand Prix willen racen en de toekomst ziet er goed uit.
