Jonathan Summerton keert terug bij Team Amerika

Jonathan Summerton is door Team Amerika opgeroepen om komend weekend de A1 Grand Prix-races in Maleisië te rijden. De 19-jarige coureur moet er voor zorgen dat de slechte resultaten van Buddy Rice tijdens de eerste twee weekenden worden weggepoetst op het circuit van Sepang.

Summerton: Ik kan niet wachten om terug te keren in die auto. Ik heb de afgelopen maanden keihard getraind om fit te zijn voor het geval dat zich een kans zou voordoen en ik denk dat ik daar nu voordeel uit ga halen. De eerste vrije training zal nog wel wat roestig verlopen, maar ik denk voor de eerste kwalificatie wel weer op mijn oude niveau te zitten. Hopelijk zet ik de auto dan in de top tien en eindig ik de races in de top vijf.

Teambaas Rick Weidinger: We moeten nu echt punten gaan scoren en Jonathan heeft vorig seizoen al bewezen dat te kunnen. Het team als geheel werkt nog niet vlekkeloos en we hebben nog niet de snelheid om met de top mee te kunnen doen. Jonathan brengt ervaring en kwaliteit in de auto. Onze doelstellingen blijven races winnen en in de top vijf van het kampioenschap eindigen.
