Zwitserland wint sprintrace op Sepang

Zwitserland heeft de eerste zege van het jaar weten te pakken op het circuit van Sepang. Neel Jani, vanaf pole position gestart, reed eenvoudig naar de overwinning toe. Jeroen Bleekemolen eindigde als achtste, maar werd na de race bestraft wegens een valse start. Dat zorgde ervoor dat team Nederland in de sprintrace geen punten wist te pakken.

Zwitserland won uiteindelijk met bijna vier seconden voorsprong op team Frankrijk. Duitsland werd uiteindelijk derde na een knappe inhaalactie in de laatste ronde op Wickens van team Canada, die uiteindelijk vierde werd. Brazilië finishte als vijfde en Nieuw Zeeland als zesde gevolgd door Jarvis van team Groot Brittannië.

Door het wegvallen van team Nederland uit de uitslag is team Ierland nu achtste, team Italië negende en pakte thuisrijder Alex Yoong het laatste punt.
