Baalweekend voor Team Nederland in China

Team Nederland zal het eerste raceweekend van dit seizoen in China zo snel mogelijk willen vergeten. Coureur Jeroen Bleekemolen kon op zaterdag en zondag namelijk niet voortborduren op de snelheid die hij vrijdag liet zien. Hij kwalificeerde zich als negende en achttiende voor respectievelijk de spint- en de hoofdrace. In race 1 kon hij op het smalle en gladde circuit van Zhuhai geen plekken goedmaken, in race 2 zag het er goed uit totdat de auto van Team Nederland de geest gaf.

De overwinningen gingen naar twee verrassende namen. De sprintrace werd gewonnen door Team Duitsland. De regerend kampioen had dit seizoen nog geen zege behaald en scoorde in de eerste zes races slechts veertien punten. Team India zegevierde in de hoofdrace. Narain Karthikeyan bezorgde het Aziatische land de allereerste overwinning in de A1 Grand Prix.
