Primeur biobrandstof in Nieuw-Zeeland

De A1 Grand Prix-organisatie heeft bekend gemaakt dat de autos bij het volgende weekend in Nieuw-Zeeland op biobrandstof zullen rijden. Het plan was oorspronkelijk om vanaf het begin van dit seizoen met de milieuvriendelijke brandstof te rijden, maar motorenleverancier Zytek was daar nog niet klaar voor.

Het nieuwe systeem is uitgebreid getest voor het seizoen. Een auto op biobrandstof reed zelfs tussen de gewone autos bij de test op het circuit van Silverstone. Een paar dagen voor de seizoensopener in Zandvoort werd de intrede van biobrandstof echter uitgesteld. Op 20 januari zal in Taupo, Nieuw-Zeeland voor het eerste een A1 Grand Prix-race op biobrandstof verreden worden.
