Eerste overwinning voor USA, kampioenschap onbeslist

Jonathan Summerton heeft zojuist voor Team USA de allereerste overwinning binnengesleept tijdens de hoofdrace op het circuit van Shanghai. Zwitserland kent problemen en laat de beslissing voor het kampioenschap aan de seizoensfinale in Brands Hatch.

Summerton pakt pole-sitter Neel Jani bij de start en bouwt vervolgens een voorsprong op van meer dan 10 seconden. Na een dominante overwinning van Zwitserland in de sprintrace had Jani gehoopt de titel veilig te kunnen stellen. Jani kreeg echter problemen met zijn tweede versnelling en wist de auto over de finish te brengen op de vijfde plaats. Jonny Reid van Nieuw-Zeeland wordt echter vierde en houdt zijn titelkansen daarmee levend. Het kampioenschap gaat beslist worden tijdens de seizoensfinale in Brands Hatch.

Een sterk presterende Filipe Albuquerque pakt de tweede plek voor Adam Carroll in de auto van Team Ierland. Op afstand wordt Alex Yoong zesde, gevolgd door een treintje dat geleid wordt door Narain Kartikeyan van Team India. De overige punten zijn voor Franck Montagny (Frankrijk), Robbie Kerr (Engeland) en Michael Ammermuller (Duitsland).

Jeroen Bleekemolen maakt opnieuw geen indruk en komt aan de finish als achttiende.
