Michelin wordt bandenleverancier van A1 Grand Prix

Het Franse Michelin is de komende drie seizoenen de officiële bandenleverancier voor de A1 Grand Prix. De serie reed de afgelopen drie seizoenen op Cooper-rubber, maar gaat voor de nieuwe jaargang een samenwerking aan met Michelin. De techneuten van de Franse bandenfabrikant werken met de A1 Grand Prix-officials aan de door Ferrari ontworpen en aangedreven nieuwe auto, die al ruim 4.000 testkilometers heeft gemaakt.

A1 Grand Prix-directeur John Wickham: We zijn erg blij dat we de komende drie seizoenen met Michelin gaan samenwerken. Michelin heeft veel ervaring in de autosport en dat zal onze serie nog competitiever maken. We begonnen in juni aan ons testprogramma en hebben nu het meest geschikte bandenmerk voor onze nieuwe Ferrari-auto gevonden.

Michelin-motorsportbaas Frédéric Henry-Biabaud: Wij voelen ons vereerd dat we ons kunnen associëren met de snel groeiende A1 Grand Prix. We hebben nauw samengewerkt bij de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe auto en onze ervaring stelde ons in staat om daar snel resultaat bij te boeken. We kijken ernaar uit om de serie naar een hoger plan te tillen.
