Kyalami krijgt Zuid-Afrikaanse race toegewezen

Het Zuid-Afrikaanse ronde in het A1 Grand Prix-kampioenschap vindt komend seizoen niet plaats in de straten van Durban. Het evenement verhuist naar het circuit van Kyalami, waar de Formule 1 in het verleden ook neerstreek.

Tokyo Sexwale, seatholer van Team Zuid-Afrika, kan wel leven met een race in de provincie Gauteng. Deze serie staat voor snelle autos, hoogwaardige actie en mooie mensen, alles wat we in Gauteng ook hebben. Ik ben trots op Team Zuid-Afrika en we willen ons land trots maken in onze thuisrace in februari.

A1 Grand Prix-directeur Pete da Silva: Onze raceklasse wordt alsmaar sterker. We hebben al wat mooie primeurs aangekondigd voor komend seizoen en de race in Gauteng hoort daar ook bij. De mensen mogen zich nu al verheugen op een zeer speciaal evenement, het wordt een feest voor de zintuigen.
