Chris van der Drift gaat nieuwe Ferrari testen voor Nieuw-Zeeland

Chris van der Drift, momenteel actief in de Formula Master, gaat de nieuwe A1GP-Ferrari testen voor het team van Nieuw-Zeeland. Van der Drift, geboren Nieuw-Zeelander maar al een tijdje woonachtig in Rotterdam, zal over drie weken kilometers gaan maken met de nieuwe auto op Silverstone.

Van der Drift: "Vorig jaar heb ik op Brands Hatch al een rookietest gedaan voor Nieuw-Zeeland. Die ging goed, maar nu wil ik eerste coureur van het team worden. Al weet ik dat het team ook gesprekken voert met Jonny Reid."

Colin Giltrap, seatholder van A1GP Nieuw-Zeeland, heeft zijn oog laten vallen op Van der Drift na onder meer vier overwinningen in de Formula Master. Giltrap heeft in het verleden meer Nieuw-Zeelanders geholpen, waaronder Scott Dixon.

Ondertussen is Van der Drift ook nog op bezoek geweest in de fabriek van Honda, samen met alle andere coureurs uit de Formula Master. De winnaar dit seizoen uit die klasse krijgt een test in de Formule 1-bolide van Honda. Van der Drift is momenteel de grootste kanshebber op die test, als leider in het kampioenschap.
