Nieuwe auto doorstaat crashtest

De nieuwe A1 Grand Prix-auto heeft de crashtest van de internationale autosportbond FIA doorstaan. De door Ferrari ontworpen bolide is veilig bevonden om mee te racen. Het nieuwe seizoen begint in het weekend van 21 september op het circuit van Mugello.

Technisch directeur John Travis: We hebben veel getest om de elementen van de auto veilig te maken. Op het circuit ongeveer 5800 kilometer. Dat zit dus wel goed, we hebben alleen nog wat kleine softwareproblemen met de motor. De tests met de banden zijn ook gecompleteerd en Michelin is tevreden en kijkt uit naar een mooi seizoen.

Paul Trafford, doktor in de A1 Grand Prix: De eerste drie seizoenen hebben uitgewezen dat deze klasse uitermate veilig is. Het is mooi dat ze met de nieuwe auto nu weer een hele veilige auto hebben geproduceerd en het doet me deugd dat de A1 Grand Prix de veiligheid van de rijders zo serieus neemt.
