Race in Indonesië in de straten van Jakarta

De A1 Grand Prix heeft een nieuwe locatie gevonden voor de race in Indonesië. Lippo Village nabij hoofdstad Jakarta vormt op 8 februari 2009 het strijdtoneel voor de enige stratenraces van het komende seizoen. De lay-out van het circuit is ontworpen door Tilke Gmbh, van de bekende circuitontwerper Hermann Tilke.

David Clare, A1 Grand Prix-directeur voor de regio Azië: De A1 Grand Prix is blij om terug te keren naar Indonesië. Het wordt ons derde bezoek in ons vierde seizoen en de fans moedigen altijd gepassioneerd Team Indonesië aan. De race is heel interessant voor de autosportwereld, want Indonesië schaart zich tot de selecte groep landen dat een stratenrace organiseert.

Gorden Benton, verantwoordelijk voor het project in Lippo Village: Het ontwerpteam heeft al een bezoek gebracht aan de locatie en zet nu de puntjes op de i voor het definitieve ontwerp. We gaan voor een baan van de hoogste kwaliteit en willen door goed te plannen de overlast voor de lokale bevolking tot een minimum beperken.
