Team Monaco voegt zich bij de serie

De A1 Grand Prix-serie kan weer een nieuwe deelnemer verwelkomen. Team Monaco verschijnt in oktober aan de start van de eerste race van het vierde seizoen op Circuit Park Zandvoort. Coureur voor de renstal wordt Clivio Piccione, die tevens samen met Hubertus Bahlen de taken van seatholder van het team gaat invullen.

Piccione: Ik ben trots dat ik dit project heb weten op te zetten. Ik ben van mening dat deze onderneming veel spanning en glorie voor ons land gaat betekenen. Het is een unieke situatie dat ik twee rollen op me neem. Ik vind het geweldig om niet alleen als coureur betrokken te zijn bij het team, maar me ook met het management moet bezighouden. Ik kan niet wachten om voor mijn land uit te komen in de A1 Grand Prix met de nieuwe door Ferrari ontworpen en aangedreven auto.

A1 Grand Prix-baas Tony Teixeira: Monaco is zonder twijfel het land met de minste inwoners dat deelneemt aan onze serie, maar het land scoort veel hoger met wereldwijde bekendheid. Wij van A1 Grand Prix willen een zo globaal mogelijke klasse en elk jaar voegen zich teams bij ons die ons daarbij helpen. We zijn vereerd dat een land als Monaco met zulke banden met de autosport zich verbonden heeft aan A1 Grand Prix.
