Fauzy naar snelste tijd tijdens test in Donington Park

Vandaag is het nieuwe A1GP-Ferrari tijdperk toch echt begonnen met een gezamenlijke test op het Britse circuit van Donington Park. De 600 pk sterkte Ferrari werd in regenachtige omstandigheden aan de tand gevoeld door een groot aantal deelnemers.

Fairuz Fauzy, momenteel uitkomend in de Renault World Series, tekent voor de snelste tijd van de dag met Team Maleisië. Zijn tijd van 1:35.250 blijkt uiteindelijk de beste van allemaal. Andere deelnemers waren onder andere John Martin (Australië) en Eduardo Piscopo (Italië). Nederland kwam in actie met Jeroen Bleekemolen, de racecoureur van vorig jaar. Chris van der Drift (momenteel actief in de Formula Master) kwam in actie voor Nieuw-Zeeland. De A1GP-testauto, die inmiddels meer dan zevenduizend kilometer heeft afgelegd, kwam ook in actie en werd bestuurd door Thomas Biagi.

Adrian Zaugg, tweevoudig racewinnaar afgelopen seizoen, is te spreken over de nieuwe auto. "Ik ben onder de indruk van de wagen, vooral dankzij de weersomstandigheden. Hij heeft heel veel grip, vooral tijdens het remmen. De downforce in zowel langzame als snelle bochten is erg goed te noemen. De hoeveelheid grip in de regen is echt ongelooflijk. Het is moeilijk een vergelijking te maken met de oude auto, maar de Michelin-banden geven echt heel veel grip, zelfs in de regen."

Donderdag aanstaande wordt er nog een dag getest in Donington. Later deze maand gaat het testen verder in Snetterton.
