Bleekemolen: "Het bleef tot het eind toe spannend"

Jeroen Bleekemolen eiste vandaag de eerste pole position van het A1 Grand Prix-seizoen 2008/2009 voor zich op. De coureur van Team Nederland bleef op Circuit Park Zandvoort Earl Bamber van Team Nieuw-Zeeland en Adam Carroll van Team Ierland voor.

Bleekemolen na het bereiken van de beste startpositie voor de sprintrace van morgenochtend: "Het bleef tot het eind toe spannend en ik wist dat ook. Ik gebruikte al vroeg in de kwalificatie mijn tweede set nieuwe banden omdat het vanwege de vele rode vlaggen van vandaag niet zeker was dat ik een vrije run in de laatste tien minuten zou krijgen. Dat was dus wel mogelijk en de rest deed dat ook, gelukkig ging niemand onder mijn tijd door."

Het publiek ging uit zijn dak nadat duidelijk werd dat Team Nederland zijn snelste ronde reed. Alleen jammer dat Bleekemolen dat niet hoorde. "Dat komt door de nieuwe motor. De nieuwe bolide is een geweldige raceauto, alleen maakt de Ferrari-krachtbron meer geluid waardoor ik in tegenstelling tot 2006 de fans niet hoorde juichen. Hopelijk geef ik ze morgen nog een reden om een feestje te bouwen."
