De seizoensopening van het vierde A1 Grand Prix-seizoen op Circuit Park Zandvoort werd vooraf gegaan door veel problemen. De productie van de nieuwe autos liep vertraging op waardoor zes teams helemaal niet konden deelnemen aan de eerste races en bovendien werden vraagtekens geplaatst bij de financiële situatie van de serie.

A1 Grand Prix-directeur Pete da Silva probeert nu die zorgen uit de wereld te helpen. De globale financiële crisis treft iedereen. Het is naïef om aan te nemen dat wij gevrijwaard blijven van gevolgen. Elke bedrijfstak merkt hier wel wat van. En toch hopen we aan het eind van dit jaar iets terug te zien van onze investeringen. De A1 Grand Prix is financieel gezond.
